I always liked using this kind of filter, even without wanting to quit smoking, but didn't always have them because they are not available in regular stores around here. Then when I wanted to quit smoking I got the One Step kit with the four filters, and followed the directions and COMMITTED to never smoking another cigarette without the filter. This helped me keep my hands on it. Otherwise it's too easy to misplace. I stopped inhaling too, which I think helped. That was difficult to remember to remind myself to not inhale, but I still got a satisfying smoke without inhaling. I stayed with the 90% filter for a very long time, probably a month at least. Then I happened to switch to a really light cigarette, far lighter than what I had been smoking, but it was fire safety control and I hate the taste of that so I just put the cigs down once and for all. I was sad wanting to cry for about 3 days then feeling much better. I watched a lot of movies and probably ate too much popcorn. Now when I need a sharp taste in my mouth I put a whole clove in it, minty lipbalm helps too. The entire process was WAY easier than anything else I ever tried, and I have tried patches, gum, cold turkey. I wholeheartedly recommend this product to anyone wanting to quit as painlessly as possible.
